Cisek/Showalter and Ogres Heroes Win 2017 Spikeball™ Roundnet Association Championships After Dominant Seasons

The Premier and Women's division champions pose for a picture after 2017 Nationals. When the 2017 Spikeball™ Roundnet Association Nationals was first canceled at 6 a.m. the day of the tournament, we knew we were in for a wild day. After the Spikeball™ crew secured indoor facilities and the tournaments began, the craziness continued in the form of bracket upsets. Despite all of this, things did go as expected: Cisek/Showalter (Tyler Cisek and Peter Jon Showalter) and Ogres Heroes (Alli Kaufman and Becca Witmer) won the Premier and Women's Divisions, respectively. In the pre-tournament prediction polls, 67 percent of voters believed that Cisek/Showalter would win and 61 percent had their money on Ogres Heroes. A Look at the Top Teams Going into the Premier Division at 2017 Nationals

The biggest day of the roundnet season is almost here. On Saturday at Cricket Park in Chicago, IL, the fourth ever Spikeball™ Roundnet Association (SRA) National Championship will take place. This event will feature 232 teams with many traveling from all over the nation and globe. The first Nationals was held in October of 2014 in Santa Monica, CA, and featured 89 teams. In 2015 the best of the best headed to Nashville. Chico Spikes (Skyler Boles and Shaun Boyer) took both of these championships home. Last year brought us to Washington, D.C., where 2 Guys (Preston Bies and Troy Mauk) had an outstanding performance and upset multiple teams, including the defending champions in the finals. Ogres Heroes Look to Repeat as National Champs; MOXIE, veinte hamburguesas, and Whipper Snappers Look to Stop Them

Note: This preview of the 2017 Nationals Women's Division was written by Ezra Dantowitz. This season the Women's Division showed huge growth from 2016. After having just one Women's Division at a tour stop or grand slam in 2016, 2017 featured a Women's Division in eight tour stops and three grand slams. In addition to growth in numbers, the quality is way up. Ogres Heroes (Becca Graham and Alli Kauffman) made it to at least the round of 16 in the Advanced Division three times this season.
